Blue Mountain Arts Poetry Contest
This Melodious World
by Emily Trester
THirty-eighth
Contest
third Place
It is so amazing
How every melodious sound of nature
Is the most inspiring
And beautifully written song of this world
The sound of courageous hummingbirds
The crickets faithfully searching for purpose in the dark
Drops of rain scattering on the Earth
Encouraging us to look at our reflections in the pond
To remind ourselves that there's a reason for everything
The mystifying sound of wind rushing by
Reminding us that we're still alive despite the pain
All these things come together in harmony
So we can find our individual strength
And even beauty
In the midst of trials remodeling our perspectives
Because there's purpose in every scar
No matter if it's big or small
And the world carries our stories
Because it's the place that reveals who we're destined to become
And I believe that within each of us is a lionhearted soul
Who has a greater purpose than we'll ever know.
